The Underworld: Evolution Concerns

I was browsing over the Underworld: Evolution board at imdb.com, due to boredom, and found a link to this article: http://www.creature-corner.com/?type=articles&id=607

Warning: It has quite a good bit of spoilery info (some quite blah and blegh in my opinion), so if you don't like, don't read. However, I thought one part should be mentioned:

"Our story takes place immediately after the events of Underworld and Selene’s totally on her own this time, except for Michael," says Beckinsale. "She destroyed her master, she’s lost her coven, she’s completely in exile this time, a vampire exile. I think Selene’s a much more interesting character in this film because there’s more challenges for her this time. It helps that Len and I have been with the Underworld franchise right from the beginning. We both have the same vision for my character. We envision the same film."

Why does that last sentence make me want to puke even more than the trailer did? Seriously. Combine the trailer's massive amount of Selene, the pictures put out almost always being Selene, and now this? I think Kate would be smarter than to say something like that - it just sounds quite, wrong. You're married, of course you envision the same film, and it's all about you from the looks of things.

Selene's transformed into a Mary-Sue. She's a whole new sort of lycan.

Guh. It's becoming so bad. *facedesks* I find it so sad that a character I used to find semi-interesting is swiftly becoming the second worst canon Sue I've seen.

The first one wouldn't happen to be Abby Whistler from Blade Trinity, would it?

Actually, Abby and Anna from Van Helsing are still battling it out for first place.

Honestly, I was bored throughout VH except when Velkan was doing something.

And Abby....of course we know that blocking out your hearing while fighting for your life is the intelligent thing to do.

*g*

I enjoyed VH for the most part. Well, I enjoy making fun of it, the werewolves, Velkan, Dracula, the Brides, Hellbeast vs. Werewolf, Aleera hitting Anna, and some other aspects. Carl at times. Overall, definitely a disappointment, especially compared to how much I love The Mummy.

Oh, yeah. Oh, have you watched the extended version? Because there's a great part in there where she talks about her "knife of sadness". I almost fell over when I heard it.

So sorry it took so long to reply. Suddenly got the e-mail notice for your reply today. O_o Smooth, LJ.

Nah, I never saw the extended version, but how in God's name does she have a "knife of sadness"? Bad enough that she uses a BOW AND ARROW.

(And Viva la Mummy.)

In the extended cut of Blade: Trinity, Abigail Whistler says that she has a knife of sadness in her heart, and as long as it's there, she's strong and untouchable, but if it gets taken out, she'll die. Blade listens, and then walks away with a look that basically says "Someone please kill me now.".

Oh, and *waves* first post in this community. ^_^

And that would be HORRIBLE. *rolls eyes*

Well of course it would be. Because then she would be in Heaven with Anna Valerious, and since they are perfect, little Sues, they would dethrone God and take over.

You never know. She could be reincarnted like Sonja and then Lucian would realize that she actually IS Sonja and then they'd fall in love.

And have hybrid babies.

Gah, like we need Abby to be on the ladder of reincarnation or, whatever the term was. *used to be a Xena geek, but paid little attention to that whole reincarnation stuff on it*

*gags*

*points to what nightslash said* Yep, that's her knife of sadness. It replaced the line, "It already has" or whatever, when Blade tells her not to let it turn inward, about the pain/guilt/whatever from losing the other Nightstalkers.

And the way she says it makes me roll my eyes and want to claw my ears off with a spork at the same time.

Yeah, you know the girl's a Sue as soon as she says she can shoot around corners. Yeah, she has help from technology, but just saying that, it's like a big warning sign. Or a neon sign that says "Mary Sue" in bright, big letters, hanging above her with an arrow pointing down.

(The Mummy rocks my socks, even six years later. Definitely one of my perfect movies.)
